This is a sad post…it’s our last one in the Yosemite Series. This trip was so beyond amazing. And it was only 2 nights! We really cannot wait to go back here one day and stay for a much longer period of time. We think there are a few key things that made this trip so awesome.
- We stayed right in Yosemite Valley. This is a MUST for visiting this park. There’s nothing else like it there…and you’re SO CLOSE to all the waterfalls, meadows, hiking, etc.
- See things Opposite of the Tourists. When you’re staying in the park, most people/families, get up, get showers, eat, THEN get out hiking. If you can get up and get out there you’ll avoid a LOT of crowds!! We lake nature, but we don’t always like sharing it with a ton of people. BONUS: When you come back to camp for lunch…the showers will be empty and the hot water is back. No lines, no cold showers…and again, no crowds! Go back out again around sunset and you’ll have even less people. This made our trip so enjoyable!!
- Glacier Point Road was open!! It’s the earliest it’s ever opened in history due to the severely light snowpack in the CA Mountains. We lucked out big time. If we went to Yosemite and Glacier Point Road was closed we would not have been able to see the amazing views we did and hike Sentinel Dome & Taft Point…which was the Highlight of our trip!!
- Waterfalls were at their peak! The waterfalls are massive against the sheer granite rocks and so beautiful to see. If you’re planning to go to Yosemite, I’d highly recommend the month of May. Just make sure Glacier Point Road is open and you’ll be able to enjoy all of this awesome park!!
Until next time, Yosemite. ♥
